Fairview Farms Alpacas offers customized bus tours, group tours, and tours for a wide range of organizations. Fairview Farms main focus is teaching about alpacas, fiber processing, and fiber arts. Group tours also focus on the history of the area, including pioneer educator Howard Barnard who established Entre Nous College nearby in the early 1900s, the defunct town of Hampton and the Fort Hays/Fort Dodge Trail that passed nearby. Bus tours have become very popular and the farm schedules many groups during the spring and fall. Tours are individualized according to group interests and the amount of time spent at the farm. Tours can include scavenger hunts, horticulture, agriculture, and the Kansas prairie. We have a strong belief in teaching the times and traditions of previous generations and getting back to nature.
DeAnn is an avid hand spinner and along with processing all of the farm’s fiber, she enjoys putting on many hand-spinning demonstrations both at the farm and other events.
Future plans for the farm include renovating an old tenant house into a fiber arts classroom where DeAnn can share her knowledge of spinning and creating decorative and useful articles from alpaca fiber.
