Fairview Farms Alpacas offers customized tours that are popular with school groups. Our primary focus is teaching about alpacas and the processing of their fiber. Tours also focus on the history of the area, including pioneer educator Howard Barnard who established Entre Nous College nearby in the early 1900s, the defunct town of Hampton and the Fort Hays/Fort Dodge Trail that passed nearby. School field trips have become very popular and we schedule many tours for elementary, middle school, & high school classes during the spring and fall. School tours include scavenger hunts, horticulture, agriculture, and the Kansas prairie. We have a strong belief in bringing the younger generations back to nature. A second-grade schoolteacher from Wakeeney, Kansas, recently wrote, “I have been teaching school for 28 years and this is by far the best field trip I have ever been on.”
DeAnn is an avid hand spinner and along with processing all of the farm’s fiber, she enjoys putting on many hand-spinning demonstrations both at the farm and other events.
